Call-in Against Lloyd Harbor Deer Hunt Friday, Nov. 16th
November 14th 2007

CALL TO ACTION!!! THE DEER HUNT IS ON IN LLOYD HARBOR ONCE AGAIN!!!

THERE IS A MASS CALL-IN SCHEDULE FOR THIS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16th!

THE SITUATION:

The deer hunt in Lloyd Harbor, NY continues this year, though it's hard to believe there are any deer left after last years mass-murder... For years, activists have been working on ending this cruel and unnecessary hunt, some years being more successful than others. This year, Mayor Leland Hairr and the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) strike again...

There is a massive amount of data that suggests the hunt is terribly unnecessary. The hunt takes place in two locations, Caumsett State Park and the Seminary of Immaculate Conception. Heckscher State Park, not too far from Lloyd Harbor has much less land and a much larger deer population. There hasn't been a hunt at Heckscher in many many years. The deer and area residents are able to live happily & healthily in harmony. Leland Hairr suggests that the deer in Lloyd Harbor are a danger to the residents, citing car accidents, Lyme disease and oh... thats right... they're eating peoples flowers! F.O.I.A requests have proven that the number of auto accidents involving deer has remained stable for years and years, usually about one per year. And there is only one reported case of Lyme disease in the area in the last several years. Certainly the guns being fired within 100 yards of peoples homes last year posed a much greater threat to the residents of Lloyd Harbor...

Comment at Myspace

On Thursday, April 19th at approximately 11:15pm, a group of activists went to the NYC home of Angela Stulley, part of the Global Client Group for NYSE Arca. The crowd demanded that Arca drop HLS (ticker: LSR) from the exchange and stop widening the pockets of those who profit off the suffering of animals. People walking by seemed interested and several were very supportive. 5 or 6 NYPD police cars arrived and many officers got out and began harassing activists who were peacefully protesting on the sidewalk without blocking traffic. The officers forcibly cuffed three of the protestors for simply invoking their right not to show ID and then illegally searched their bags until ID was found. The officers falsely claimed that one is required to show ID when asked and threatened to arrest anyone who questioned the constitutionality of the situation. All activists at the demonstration were given summonses for disorderly conduct and were eventually allowed to leave without arrests.

On Friday, April 20th, about 20 animal rights activists held a loud and strong demonstration outside the New York office of NYSE Arca, demanding that HLS (ticker: LSR) be dropped from the exchange. Activists chanted "HLS: SHUT THEM DOWN, LSR: DROP THEM NOW" and handed out hundreds of pieces of HLS-related material to onlookers, NYSE employess, and investors. The people present seemed hyped and excited for forthcoming demos throughout the weekend.

That night a group of activists were provided a police escort from each apartment. James McDonald (Board member) was called out for Arca's ties to HLS. Several pedestrians supported the effort for James to sever his company's ties. Police cars followed the activists, slowing up traffic more than Critical Mass! The activists also hit up the homes of William Ford (Board member) and Catherine Kinney (President) of NYSE Arca. The last convergence was at John Thain's apartment, of which he owns the top two floors which are financed by blood money. The apartment doormen admitted that Mr. Thain (Executive CEO) is a frequent target. So much so that he told them to lie and say he was in the apartment down the street. Nice try, but we've heard it before. After this demo, the police tried to say it was time to call it quits. Little did they know that the consensus was the leave prior to the police's request.

On Saturday, 8 demos took place on Long Island! The first stop featured neighbors regretting that activists were returning. They are getting angry with Mark Marsilio of Wyeth. The group was serenaded with the reggae song “Move It”, which is exactly what Mark needs to do. Activists used evasive driving techniques to lose feds following them to the next location. Vijay Kedia was provided an information packet about Flextrade's relationship with ARCA, as they are a very important company for the NYSE company. He was very polite and promised to do something as the CEO of Flextrade. David Carey, attorney for ARCA may not have been home, but his son took an information packet to inform his Dad.

Susan Martinez (District Manager of Wyeth) was home and, despite being on a long-distance phone call with her child in a stroller, requested information be left in her mailbox. She was also informed by the activists that she can do something to stop the torture of 500 animals daily. A majority of neighbors disapproved of Mrs. Martinez's character and told us they would have been out with us if not busy with household chores and afraid of Susan's wrath. Colin Goddard (CEO of OSI Pharmaceuticals, shares the board of directors with Robert Ingram, Vice Chairman for GlaxoSmithKline, one of HLS's top 3 largest investors/customers) wasn't as receptive, though his ears surely were during a demo at his mansion. A neighbor and/or private investigator couldn't control himself and showed the effects of drug dependency, claiming that if the activists were sick they'd turn to GlaxoSmithKline. He forgot to mention that this would only be the case for someone who is suicidal.

Roy Rowsell, attorney for ARCA, did not come out of his house. Instead, his wife said he didn't live there despite saying, “Roy, there are people at the door!” The demo ensued explaining ARCA's role in perpetrating HLS' reign of terror. Neighbors with their companion animals give hope that the message will be heard and Roy can no longer hide. Mark Robson of FXMarketspace showed no interest in the issue of his company's relations with Flextrade and ARCA, but he cannot claim to deny knowing Vijay Kedia, despite being on a press release with him about FXMarketspace and Flextrade's alliance.

As one group was headed to the next demo, a duck appeared injured in the median. Activists immediately stopped their car, turned on the hazards, and were amazed that the duck was able to cross the street into the grassy area. One of the duck's wings were injured, probably by a passing car, but the duck was able to muster enough energy to fly away and swim on a nearby pond. With this inspiration, the activists ended the full day of demos at the residence of Richard Dapcic. He was unable to deny his role in the killings, nor would he have been heard amidst a quick, effective shout out session that brought out an annoyed next door neighbor who was given info about HLS as activists rushed back to their cars. Activists were able to avoid police confrontation at all locations and no problems occured.

On Sunday (Earth Day), ADL's Weekend of Action concluded with two final events. First activists arrived at the home of Howard Woltmann (President of Overton Freight) and only got a few words in before police arrived and Howard, for the first time, showed himself as activists stood silent. The police informed the protestors that it was illegal to make any noise at any demo (In the daytime no less) and that it was trespassing for whoever placed a single flyer in the door handle, despite it being completely legal in reality to walk up to someone's door and ring their doorbell and that it is only trespassing when the owner of the property has told people to leave. This was never verbalized, but it is the reason activists were not detained, as there was no basis for it. The officer present ordered protestors to lower their signs so that Howard could remember their faces. Activists did not comply with this order and no consequence resulted. For more info on Howard and Overton, click here.

Activists then returned to the home of David Carey (Arca attorney), and this time he was home. He took information regarding HLS and Arca. Activists stuck around for a while holding signs and a banner, explaining to a neighbor why they were there. David Carey was then informed that activists will continue to show up at his door until NYSE Arca drops HLS.

All in all, a very successful weekend of action!

World Week for Animals in Labs
April 24th, 27th, and 28th 2006

3 Days of Protest Against Vivisection

Every year for over a decade now a week has been set aside in April for animals who are 'subjects' in laboratories. During this week thousands of activists from coast to coast and internationally have shed light on the plight of these innocent animals who are held captive by research and have taken action to see these animals set free. Some people have chosen to set up educational street stalls, or have forums and debates at their schools on the efficacy and ethics of vivisection, others have chosen more direct tactics like breaking into labs and setting animals free or vandalizing the homes of scientists and profiteers who collaborate with vivisection. 2006 has indeed been a historic year in the fight against vivisection and you are invited to take part in history.

Whatever you choose to do during this week to help the animals in labs will make another tile in the rich mosaic that comprises our national animal rights movement. The Animal Defense League Long Island & Hugs for Puppies organization have teamed up to bring you a strong week of action and to host events that you can take part in if you don't do your own! There is no doubt that these three days of protest will be hard hitting against vivisection (particularly Huntingdon Life Sciences) and you can help make them even better!

Be sure to come out and attend all three days of protest and to tell all of your friends about the events, take this code from the banner above and place it in your myspace, facebook or live journal profiles to help promote these events! With your help we can close HLS once and for all and put another nail in the coffin of an already dying industry, vivisection.

----a letter from SHAC-7 defendant----

Dear Friends,

I am writing you as a both a friend and a defendant in the USA vs. Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty trial. My co-defendants and I need your help, we need you to attend court on wednesday - friday of this week and show support for our innocence. We face varying degrees of sentences if convicted, some as low as 3 years others as high 23 years and we may be remanded into custody as soon as friday afternoon if we loose.

In May of 2004 myself and 6 other people were arrested at our homes and indicted by the federal government on charges that the media and prosecutors call "domestic terrorism". These charges stem from the publishing of a website ( http://www.SHACamerica.net ), a website designed to educate people of the criminal animal cruelty perpetrated by Huntingdon Life Sciences see ( http://www.InsideHLS.com ), and to publish reports of anti-Huntingdon protest activities occurring across the country.

Myself and my co-defendants began trial on our charges a few weeks ago on February 6th. Since then we have seen the US Attourny's office present a case filled with inuendo, irrelevent material, and a witness list aimed at preying upon the emotions of the jury. What we have not seen however is ANY evidence of wrongdoing of any kind. The governments case challenges the basic ideas of free speech with particular focus on those who advocate for the rights of animals. The governments case is expected to rest this Tuesday, and it is at that point that we will be putting on our defense. We have been restrianed from showing footage of the documented crimes commited by HLS, we have been prohibited from allowing expert testimony on how vivisection is both morally and scientifically fraudulent, and we have been prohibited form mentioning the recent charges brought against HLS by the NJSPCA (see http://www.animaldefense.info/news/010506.html ) We must show that we have support from the community!, we must show that we are not only innocent but we are right!, YOU CAN HELP US DO THAT! For the animals inside HLS, and for the the freedom of myself and my co-defendants please tell everyone you know to PUT ON YOUR BEST CLOTHES AND BIGGEST SMILES AND ATTEND COURT WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY OF THIS WEEK.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Your Friend,
Andy Stepanian

The trial is at the Federal Courthouse in Trenton, NJ on the 4th floor (Judge Anne Thompson) from 9 am-5 pm everyday. You cannot bring ANY electronic devices into the courtroom and must show a photo ID to enter the courthouse.

Freeport Animal Shelter Caught In Cruelty Scandal
Thursday, January 26th

PHONE / EMAIL SHELTER BOARD DEMANDING THAT CHERYL SALEM BE FIRED !

"Sometimes sick ones or the kittens and puppies wouldn't go down so she put them in the tank over and over." -Anonymous Employee

The animal shelter in Freeport, NY (Long Island Humane and Dog Protective Association) uses a carbon monoxide gas chamber to kill animals. It is a sad truth that until we unite to make this illegal in New York State, the use of CO gassing will legally continue. Upon the being contacted by shelter insiders the ADL-LI recently learned that the current operations at the Freeport animal shelter employ a sort of cruelty that goes above and beyond the regular procedures regarding euthanasia. One chief of operations, Cheryl Salem has been observed using this chamber regularly and illegally.

The Freeport Shelter is a small, privately owned nonprofit with a questionable financial history as reported by the BBB annual report on charitable organizations. It's had the same 4-6 board members for years, 3 are related. We need your help in advising the remaining board members that an immediate resignation or termination of Cheryl Salem is in the best interest of the animals.

"I was young. She told me it was legal, but we started calling it bloody Sunday because she usually does it on Sundays but sometimes at nights too."
Anonymous Employee-(regarding Cheryl Salem's use of the chamber at night on weekends)

Here's what you can do:
Call & Email these people asking them to:

(1) Immediately prevent Cheryl Salem access to the shelter and arrange protection for the animals
(2) Appoint someone humane with experience to temporarily run the shelter
(3) Break down the gas chamber.

In fact we are so stoked about this meeting that there are free vegan cinnamon buns to the first five new faces who show up. So bring a friend or many, we assure you that this is an event you will not want to miss!

Contact Fulcrum Group and Demand They Stop Trading HLS' Stock !
Thursday, December 8th

Recently the Over the Counter Bulletin Board made attempts to conceal who is trading in LSRI shares. However an insider at the OTCBB has leaked to SHAC lots of new info on LSRI brokers and told us that they are very unhappy at this attempt to protect the illegal, immoral, animal-murdering HLS.

Please contact the first company in the leak, Fulcrum Global Partners LLC, telling them about HLS and the fraud of vivisection. It might be worth pointing out that the animals have friends everywhere and if they deal with HLS they will definitely get caught out!

Thanks and good luck!
